Summer Come and Gone by Jonathan House

Summer is rather quickly leaving us this year in the Pacific Northwest, so fast it seems, that all of my intended (well, procrastinated) summer blogging will now have to happen as we transition to the fall. This is fine by me, as it gives me the opportunity to look back at one of the most memorable summers in a long time.

This is a shot of Oregon City pitcher Rilyn Lewchuck pitching against Thurston during his team's victory in Oregon's 6A State Championship game this year. In some ways it's a boilerplate shot for baseball coverage, but the angle's slightly different than what I normally get and the light was excellent, so it provided a bit of a morale boost during a long work day.

Chicken Hat Consolation by Jonathan House

I shot the Yard, Garden and Patio Show this last week for the Oregon Association of Nurseries, an assignment that I did last year and had a great time. On the second day of the show this year, I had access to a catwalk that runs overhead part of the show floor. Unfortunately it's difficult getting a good facial expression from a show patron, as most people don't look straight up while perusing the booths. And with the limited amount of time that you can be up there, it really becomes an "I'll take what I can get" proposition. In this case while I wasn't able to exactly capture a human face, my consolation was a chicken.
